Manuel Joaquim Pinto and his wife welcome visitors to the Quinta de Vila Maior web site The beauty of the River Douro and our own relationship with this countryside pushed us to work hard in order to restore the heritage left by my grandfather, Manuel Joaquim Pinto.

At the end of the 19th century, his Porto wines travelled to Gaia in order to be exported all over the world. The growing importance of Douro table wines, together with the existing potential in the Douro Superior subregion, made us believe it was possible to produce supreme nectars with the grapes of our vineyards.

Thanks to our great teamwork, we can now confirm we were right. We are still aware that there is still much work to be done concerning wines.

Manuel J. Pinto
